Happy Sunday, fellow crusaders! As you may or may not know, today is not just any other autumn Sunday. Today sees the long anticipated return of “Star Trek,” to television…sort of.
Tonight, CBS will air the first episode of “Star Trek: Discovery” (7:30 CT), before switching the series over to their CBS All Access streaming service (psst…Non-US Netflix users, it’ll be up on Netflix the next day…). No matter how you feel about their choice of streaming service, it’s nice to see “Star Trek” back on TV, even if it is a very different television landscape. Read the rest of this entry
Happy Star Trek Day! Today the beloved sci-fi series turns 51. With all the reboots, spinoffs, and films, it’s clear that we haven’t quite tired of this crew of characters yet. The time we all knew was coming is here—the end of the network television season. Back in the dark ages, before streaming and Netflix original programing, that meant that couch potatoes were forced to watch reruns or (gasp) find something other than television to occupy their time.

We’ve officially entered the summer television season, which in the past has meant lots and lots of reruns. Thankfully, that’s no longer the case.
In recent years, we’ve seen the rise of the summer series. Usually limited to 10 or so episodes, they require less of a time commitment, and tend to be on the lighter side .
That’s certainly the case for CBS’s new summer, dramedy—“BrainDead.”
