…Find Some Middle Ground

Hey there and happy Fourth of July! I know it’s a holiday, but I’m hoping I can have your attention for a few seconds.

I don’t know if you noticed, but there’s been a serious breakdown in communication in our country. I’m talking on all sides here.

Although, I’d like to make the argument that for the US of A this is nothing new.

We’re a country that was founded both on compromise and a total lack there of, so it’s no surprise that our communication skills are a little all over the place.

We’ve never seen eye to eye on everything, and frankly, we’d never have gotten this far if we did. A difference of opinion is what’s made us the unique, hot mess of a melting pot we are today. We’re not perfect, but we keep trying.

I have faith that we’ll figure this out. It will take some time. It’ll take some listening. We may need to take a step back and re-evaluate (I know I do from time to time). But as long as we keep coming back and making an effort, we’ll figure this out.

We can’t fix it all today, but we can at least search for some middle ground. I assure you, there is some. At the very least we all like pie, right? I mean, we should probably steer clear of flavor discussions, but there are worse places to start than a mutual love of pie.

On that note, I’ll let you get back to your holiday/ Thursday. Happy Fourth! Have fun. Be safe. Be kind.

P.S. — We’re taking a step back this weekend, and giving ourselves the weekend off. See you on Monday. Here’s a few tunes in case you need them…

…just for fun:
