…take a taste

Today we celebrate a delicacy that could not be contained by Dessert Day (October 14th…hope you celebrated well). Today is for the chocolate cupcakes out there.

Chocolate cake, I see you getting excited, but your day will come (January 27, mark your calendars). Today is for the self-contained, tiny cakes of joy.

Because who could ask for more than a small moment of sweetness?

But what’s even better than enjoying those small joys yourself, sharing them with others.

It’s truly amazing how something so small can completely turn a day around, whether it’s a literal chocolate cupcake or an emotional one. What’s an emotional cupcake? I’m so glad you asked. They’re those small moments of kindness, that can have a huge impact.

It doesn’t have to be grand, an emotional cupcake can be as inherently decent as holding the elevator door (or any door), donating a few cents to the person in front of you at the grocery store (nothing worse than digging for those five cents with a line behind you), compliment a strangers shoes, offer someone your seat on the train, share your avian knowledge with a passerby (specific, but effective in the right circumstances).

These are all things I have seen happen this week, and I can personally vouch for their positive impact. Emotional cupcakes — calorie free and they brighten everyone’s day.

So, even if you’re not willing to share your cupcake today (no judgment) don’t forget to share the sweetness.

…bi-daily smile…
