With everything that’s happening in the world, it can sometimes feel like things are going a little bit off the rails, so it feels appropriate to acknowledge that on this day in 1884, the first American roller coaster opened at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York.
But literal roller coasters can be a good reminder of how the figurative ones work too. There’s a lot of ups, downs, lefts, rights, screams, and shouts, but if we all just hang in there and don’t freak out too much, we make it back safely and hopefully have a little fun along the way.
Before I get way too deep for a summer Saturday, let’s remember that roller coasters emotional and otherwise, can be fun. So get out there and embrace the ups, downs, flips, turns, and never forget to find the joy.
