As we approach the end of this short week, I have one #ThursdayThought to share paired with a small request: Please, stop sharing your “unpopular” opinions.
Let me clarify: Please, stop pre-labeling your opinions as unpopular on social media.
You know what I’m talking about…and if you don’t, click here at your own risk (I warned you).To be clear, I have no problem with opinions being shared online. Do I agree with all of them? No. But I respect the right to share them (within reason, obviously).
Putting aside the contradiction of “unpopular” opinions trending, this overload of deciding they’re “unpopular” needs to stop. Especially if that opinion is that “Ant-Man” is an excellent film. That’s just a fact.
At best this trend is bizarrely self-deprecating. Don’t apologize for your opinion, own it and back it up.
At worst, it’s obnoxiously self-important. I know we all want to be our own unique selves, but odds are there is someone out there who shares your “unpopular” opinion. And you know what? I think that’s a good thing. We could use all the comradery we can get even if those similarities are petty opinions online.
So go forth and own your opinion, they are yours and yours alone, let them shine, just remember to be kind.
…bi-daily smile…
how come the people with truly unpopular opinions are the ones who don’t label it as such??? #Antmanrocks…
