…dance on

Last night, the latest champion of my competition reality show guilty pleasure—Dancing With the Stars—was revealed.

But as Jordan and Lindsay dance their victory dance, I have a confession. I may have found another object of my competition reality show affection—Baking.

To be more specific, British baking by way of “The Great British Bake Off,” or as it’s known here (for some good, random reason I’m sure), “The Great  British Baking Show.”

Imagine “Chopped,” but with ridiculously polite, amateur bakers. It’s phenomenal.

Since 2015 our shores have been graced by a holiday version of this — “The Great Holiday Baking Show” — and this year it’s getting upgraded to a full series — “The Great American Baking Show.”

So this What to Watch Wednesday I’m calling on the American people to come together and prove that we deserve nice things.

I know some of you out there are probably thinking what could possibly be fascinating about a group of home bakers competing with cake?

And I’m so glad you (hypothetically asked)…

Baking knowledge aside, which there is plenty of…

The show provides an endless amount of life advice to be gleaned from the baking tent, like the therapeutic effects of pounding anything with a rolling pin…

There’s no crying in baking…

And sometimes you just need to shout at pie…

Also, Mary Berry (and her innuendo) can fix anything…

So get out there America, tune in, and soak it all in. You’ll be glad that you did.

…bi-daily smile…

imagine Chopped where the competitors share ingredients, tips and encouragement…in other words, never going to happen…
