…let your hair down

Ttn-500_unnamed-1his What to Watch Wednesday, we return to a time-honored (for the last three years) Holiday tradition—live-tweeting NBC’s live musical.

Tonight “Hairspray Live” will face its toughest critics—the anonymous voices of Twitter…

Now in its fourth year, following along on Twitter during the annual live musical on NBC has become a bit of a spectator sport. Sure, we tune in to watch the show, but half the fun is seeing the snark on Twitter…and that’s okay.

A lot has changed since last year’s “The Wiz,” the least of which being Fox’s incredibly successful “Grease Live” that hopefully (fingers crossed) gave NBC the motivation it needed to really mix up its format.

Then there’s the transformation of Twitter, which of course has always thrived on its relative anonymity, but I think we can all agree that it has become a particular hotbed for petty “political” discourse. (understatement of the century)

So tonight, I look forward to the possibilit of a moment of unity as we all (or at least the theater dorks among us) come together around the joy of live theater and a good old-fashioned snarkfest.

Let’s keep it clean folks, and remember, we’re all on the side of fun here. Finally, I wish many broken legs to the performers, we’ll see you on the Twitters.

…bi-daily smile…
