…let it fly

American FlagHappy Flag Day! While much of the country may see this as a random holiday, here at 2WC we celebrate this gem of a holiday with great enthusiasm. So sit back, relax and let the historic patriotism wash over you.

As you all know, Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag, which happened on June 14, 1777, when it was ratified by the Second Continental Congress. Yes, it’s true, in the beginning, our government actually got stuff done.

Since 1777, we’ve seen quite a few other flags, which of course is the downside of having the number of stars reflect the number of territories your country is made up of, and you can’t seem to stop acquiring territories. A pain for  lawmakers, great for seamstresses.

And this Flag Day, we celebrate all of them. But I’ll leave the rest of the history fun to the History Channel:

Here’s to random, but important holidays!
