…Turn the Page

old-stack-of-booksHappy World Book Day!

Today is all about celebrating books,  authors, and reading!

In a world that’s overrun by technology, and an overwhelming sense of immediacy, World Book Day is more important than ever.

While technology has its place in learning and the spreading of important information, books teach us a very different lesson. They encourage you to disconnect, slow down, and think for yourself. They remove distractions and require critical thinking.

More importantly, books encourage you to think your own thoughts and form your own opinions. There’s no right or wrong way to read and interpret a book. Which is a very different experience from a lot of what you read online.

Yes, I realize the irony as I write this in a blog post, and thank you very much for reading my small contribution to the larger “importance of books” conversation. Now, in the spirit of the holiday, go read a book!

Does a full 140-character tweet count as a book? 130?
