Happy Memorial Day!

Yesterday, Zer reminded you of the meaning of the holiday. Today, I have a history factoid for you.

The origins of Memorial Day  have been tied back to a direct response to the aftermath of the American Civil War, and the practice of both sides decorating the graves of their dead. Because of this, Waterloo, New York, was named the birthplace of Memorial day, although many other towns contest that title to this day.

I hope all of you have the opportunity to enjoy the day with family and friends. Have a safe and wonderful holiday.
