galavant

Television fans were feeling all the feels late last week as the networks announced which shows made the cut this season. There were tears, there were triumphant fist pumps, and there were a ton of opinions flying around on Twitter. This “What to Watch Wednesday” I’m celebrating the most astounding among them (and 2WC favorites). When ABC announced the return of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Agent Carter” I was happy, but not surprised. Both shows have modest, but incredibly vocal, loyal fans, not to mention an incredibly successful universe of movies backing them up. (The Marvel Movie Universe, perhaps you’ve heard of it?)

“Galavant” on the other hand, was a pipe dream…a pipe dream that came true! I hate to say that I was surprised that “Galavant” was renewed, because I love this melodious, medieval wonder of a show, and like to believe that someone in television with decision-making power values quality over the quantity, but I’ve been burned before (RIP “Pushing Daisies”).

Now, I know what you’re thinking: Why hasn’t she mentioned “The Muppet Show”? Good question, and I have a good answer: Because, I’m mentioning them now. The other mind-blowing announcement, coincidentally also made by ABC, was that “The Muppets” will be returning to primetime.

The show’s being described as “more adult,” which seems a little misleading. I’ve always loved the Muppets because they’re entertaining for all ages. Perhaps this is an attempt to lure those “grown ups” who see the Muppets as children’s entertainment? Personally, I say good riddance, those sorts of “grown ups” are no fun anyways.
