Up first: “The Daily Show” announced Jon Stewart’s’ successor today, far earlier than I thought it would happen. The desk will go to Trevor Noah, a recent addition to the team of correspondents. I have to admit, I’m a little bummed that a woman didn’t get this job, but I’m excited to see what Trevor Noah brings to the show (at a TBD date):
Next up: NBC announced its 2015 live musical today! After months of back and forth and upping the ante by throwing “The Wiz” into the mix alongside the previously announced “The Music Man,” you can probably guess which one they went with. Again, I have to admit that my classic musical theater loving heart was a little broken, but what they’re planning on doing with “The Wiz” is pretty exciting. The live production will be a precursor to an actual show on Broadway, and Harvey Fierstein and Cirque du Soleil will be working on the production. This could be amazing:
Finally: “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is going to be on “Doctor Who”! And before you question whether this headline is quite as newsworthy as the previous two, just watch this and reconsider:
