This week has not been a good week for humanity. If you pay any attention to the news, then you’re well aware of the horrible event that occurred yesterday in Paris.
A lot has been said about these events, and I’m sure there’s still more to come, so I’ll keep my message brief.
The massacre that took place at Charlie Hebdo is a threat in itself, but when combined with the Sony hack that took place late last year, it appears that a war has been declared on freedom of speech.
Many of us take this right for granted, but now, more than ever we need to appreciate and exercise this freedom.
We also need to remember who the enemy is. It is not a specific group of people or even multiple groups of people. The enemy to freedom of speech is intolerance. By blaming a belief system for the actions of a few, we are guilty of the same intolerance that led armed gun men to slaughter 12 innocent victims.
Stand up for your right to say what you want, but also remember to keep an open mind.
…our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.
