Tonight, the opening ceremonies will kick off the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
It’s no secret that there’s been some tension leading up to the games, and I don’t know about you, but my interest in the games lies somewhere between national pride and morbid curiosity, and with signs like this are being sent with love from Russia (by way of Instagram)…
…can you really blame me? I mean, is toilet fishing a serious issue in Russia? Because if it is, then I would like to apologize on behalf of the many, many, many (seriously, it’s a lot) people mocking this sign, and shame on all of you.
I won’t touch the homosexual elephant in the room, because Google already took care of that:
It’s been a turbulent, political, and tense journey to these games, and now we have little choice but to sit back and see what happens. Unless you’re boycotting, which many are, or simply don’t care about the winter games, which many don’t.
I and my love of figure skating and hockey spectatorship (not to mention my aforementioned morbid curiosity) will be glued to the coverage. We’ll see you in a week and a half!
Sorry U.S., your commercial is not nearly as epic as the Brits’, and after this they’re taking on Middle Earth:
