…Restore Order

Capital Building

In spite of Congress’ best efforts, today the government shutdown ended.

You’ll notice there’s no exclamation point at the end of that sentence.  I assure you, that is not an oversight.  If there was one, it would be an exclamation point of outrage and astonishment.

Today, we avoided a complete catastrophe, true.  But we literally just avoided it, and given the past 16 days of complete nonsense, it seems very unlikely that a true solution to our country’s budget issues will be found in the next 89 days.

Yes, that’s right.  Our next deadline is January 15th.

In some ways, that’s a good thing.  Perhaps the sting of the government shutdown will still be fresh.  Maybe those who are calling for a smaller government, will realize that they are the government.

Or maybe our 2 1/2 party system will suddenly figure out how to function, come together, and solve this budget issue once and for all…it could happen.

…but on the bright side, the Panda Cam is back up!
