I’ve always been a strong advocate for reading the book before you see the movie.
Although I will admit I have failed once or twice (it’s not my fault that it took Frodo three books to destroy that ring, I can only read so fast).
But if I have any intention of ever reading the book or seeing the film version of something I try to enjoy the original version first.
I feel it’s only fair to get to know the story as it was originally conceived before expanding to different interpretations and media. The characters are exactly as they were meant to be.
In turn, I try to not to be one of those fans who points out every little difference between a book and its movie version (you know what you’ve done Harry Potter fanatics and Twi-hards).
I try to take what I know from the book and enjoy the reincarnation for what it is.
Let this be a reminder to you all as we approach the release of the final two Harry Potter films.
Which brings me to my point and inspiration: “Eat, Pray, Love.”
Yes, the book and soon to be movie starring Julia Roberts.
Didn’t see that one coming did you? Random segues are my forte.
I will admit, I haven’t read the book and would like to before I see the movie.
So my apologies to the film makers, but I most likely will not be seeing the film in theaters.
Still, not the point of the second half of this blog.
Here it comes:
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Roberts revealed that even she has insecurities about her appearance.
I feel like we’ve covered this before…but I’m pretty sure celebrities are real people…still.
Well, most of them anyhow.
And to conclude my loosely connected, Sunday collection of random thoughts, I am also not a big fan of movie covers.
You know the re-released books with new movie related cover art…not a fan…also don’t like the “now a major motion picture” tags that they stick on books, post-Hollywood makeover.
On that note, have a lovely weekend.
and to continue the randomness, here’s an article about Chelsea Clinton’s wedding…fascinating stuff
