…Bring May Flowers
While rhyming’s good fun, a lyrical whim, it must soon come to a close.
National Poetry Month will soon be no more, and we’ll be returning to prose.
What started as farce with mathematical flare, a rhyming April Fools
Has lived well beyond and continued on each Sunday all month through.
We jotted a sonnet with Easter flourishes on it, then followed with a quick running verse.
With two weeks to go, we thought we could grow, and take a quick trip ’round the Earth.
So as April showers bring on May flowers our month of verse must end.
It was fun while it lasted, and do rest assured that we will rhyme again.

…Add It Up
Well, it’s April, and we all know what that means: Poetry and Mathematics Awareness Month.
To celebrate 2WC thought we would write a little verse…all month long.
That’s right. Prepare yourself for 30 days of couplets, haikus, iambic pentameter, and maybe even a few free styles all inspired by some people’s favorite subject–Math!
So without further ado let’s kick this celebration off right with a 2WC original:
Long Division
Since the days of elementary, that seem so long ago,
To some you’ve been friendly, to others you’re foe.
Do I carry or drop it, subtract this one just so?
And this decimal, oh the decimals, where’s this decimal s’posed to go?
Long division you are baffling, yet so helpful I’ll admit.
Though some cry calculator, pen(cil) and paper will cut it.

…Step Up To The Plate

2WC presents:
A Thanksgiving Poem.
Brought to you by Stephanie and Zer, inspired by our family.
Stephanie: It’s been ten months and then some since gnomes ruled the day,
Now it’s Thanksgiving not Christmas, but, oh what the hey.
Zer: Those pointy-hatted plotters all stayed in their spots;
But not all was so calm, and so thickens our plot.
Stephanie: No venom, no violence, but joy and goodwill
Some sleuthing, some Muppets, some pie, and even more still.
Zer: Some turkey, some gravy and even more sweets.
Potatoes, that is, more than we would normally eat.
Stephanie: Game night and trivia from days well gone-by,
Facts we couldn’t recall, no matter how hard we try.
Zer: Too soon, it seems, the fun times were through,
We packed up our bags; made heavier with left over food.
Stephanie: Now, Christmas is coming. It’s not so far off,
We’ll be shopping and singing and have more stories to swap.
Zer: On that note we’re finished, consider this our poetic bow.
Have a safe shopping season, you should probably get started…now.
