…Call a Timeout
Well, the title pretty much says it all, but I’d like to call a timeout on all the March Madness craziness.
Yes, only two games have been played, and the top 64 haven’t even been determined yet, but I’m calling a timeout anyway.
All of you out there with dreams of victory riding on your 10 brackets (real fans only need one), submitted in five different pools, please indulge me for a second (put down the remote).
Before we dive headfirst into the mayhem of March Madness, let’s take a moment, and remember that the world will not end if our tournament champion gets knocked out in the first round.
If this unspeakable event does happen (not the world ending) you can think back to this time when your bracket was perfect (assuming Clemson didn’t blow it in the second half), and it was still totally Gonzaga’s year.
Okay, timeout is over. You are all going down, unless you picked Notre Dame to win (it is totally their year).
Good luck to all you March Madness maniacs out there.

…just for fun:
…give it a shot
Now that baseball blog week is over, it’s time to move on…to basketball of course.
Happy Selection Sunday! Which means only one thing of course…March Madness is nigh.
That means some difficult decisions will soon be upon us college basketball fans.
A little bit sooner thanks to Daylight Savings (hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge…don’t forget to switch your clocks).
For those unsure about your bracket, don’t worry, you have a few days to weigh your options. Otherwise known to me as: forget to fill out my bracket until hours before the tournament begins.
Of course, some people take this very seriously. They weigh their options, look at stats, choose their Cinderella’s wisely.
I prefer to withhold my intensity until I’m winning my pool.
It can’t be put off forever though. Soon we will all be forced to choose between loyalty, skill, ranking; or my personal favorites: team colors and/or mascots.
You can’t go wrong with an adorable mascot and a stylish color combo…until they lose.
I find it keeps me objective…sort of. This year I’m really feeling the blue and gold and/or small mythical creatures (who may be prone to quarrelling).
Good luck!

Just waiting for you…and team names: NCAA Bracket
…bi-daily smile…
…soak up the sun
Everybody likes to win.
Right?
I know I’m a little more competitive than most, but enjoying a victory is a part of human nature.
And when most people see they have a chance at winning they suddenly become a lot more invested in the competition–the “fair weather fan effect.”
I bring this up because I am presently winning my father’s office’s NCAA bracket pool that I entered, and probably shattering my karmic chances at a victory by blogging about it.
Lucky for you all, my desire to delve into the emotions behind victory is greater than my desire to win.
I learned of my current lead in the pool earlier this morning. I had KU winning it all so you can imagine my dismay. Fortunately, almost everyone else had KU winning it all as well.
I’m trying to take my current lead in stride. But usually I’m out of the running at this point in the tournament, so I’m enjoying it as well.
I suppose I’m being a bit of a fair weather fan on this one. I usually accept my defeat moments after handing in my completed bracket.
In situations like this humility is usually called for, but I just have one thing to say to that…Go Ohio, Syracuse, Kansas State, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Duke! (but especially Kentucky, Kansas State, and Duke)
…bi-daily smile…
…and a belated happy first day of Spring!
