…make your mind up
Okay, this is it, we’re down to the wire. It’s decision-making time. I’m not talking about Halloween costumes. In case you didn’t notice (or have been living in a hole) the presidential election is coming up in just about a week.
I assume that you, whomever you may be, as a reader of 2WC are a responsible active member of society , so I won’t waste my time asking you to register to vote, mostly because it is way too late. Shame on you if you didn’t.
As we close in on election day it seems that most conversations (of the political nature) boil down to one coveted creature–the undecided voter.
Here’s what (according to studies, polls, and I’m sure a number of other foolproof forms of measurement), the typical undecided voter looks like:
- 18-to-29 years old
- Didn’t graduate from college
- Low income
- Union household
- Identifies as Protestant but doesn’t go to church
- Skipped the debate.
I have just one thing to say: come on ladies!
Strike that, I have several more things to say: Can we please not make this a battle of the sexes thing? I know it’s tempting to drag all of female-kind into this (particularly the 20 somethings), draw hasty, generalized conclusions, and harp on historical conversations on suffrage and such, but let’s take a moment and see this as what it is–study results.
I don’t doubt their foundation in truth, but there is only one poll that will make one lick of a difference in this election season and the results are due next Tuesday. So let’s all make up our own minds and leave the undecided to do the same, just so long as come next Tuesday we all head to the polls I think we’ll be doing okay.
