…Dive In

You may not have noticed amidst all the excitement and hoopla at London’s Olympic Stadium last night, but as the summer games ended another summer tradition began—Shark Week.
Yes, it’s time for us all to brush up on our random shark knowledge. These terrors of the deep are back for another week long celebration of humanity’s fascination with fear and the morbid.
And considering this is its 25th year, it’s also a testament to our ability to watch the same thing over and over again.
What is it that keeps us watching (other than our fascination with fear and the morbid)?
Who knows, but watch it we do. It’s a ritual of summer, a reminder of our own mortality. Plus, sharks are awesome, and we need something to watch now that the Olympics are over.
Happy Shark Week!

Hmm, let’s see – Rio, 2016 – “Dancing with the Sharks” – exhibition status as an Olympic event? Combine the drama and humanity of the Olympics with the power of the human spirit and the will to live… “Hello, NBC, I have an idea…”
I have friends that love Shark Week…not me-I would rather do something else.
I read Jaws on the beach at age 11, and still managed to the enter the surf. If only they offered medals for your mettle.
