…break it up

It’s about mid-summer and we’re well into our Summer of Blockbusters.  As much as we love our big, flashy films it can get tiring looking at all of those explosions and  action sequences can get exhausting.

To  put it simply, we’re a bit burnt out.  Plus, this week’s new releases, well, let’s just say that they’re less than inspiring.

Don’t believe us?  Here’s this weeks line up:

“Ice Age: Continental Drift”–Really Hollywood, did there need to be a fourth “Ice Age” film?  How it passed Spider-Man for #1 at the box office this weekend, is a complete mystery.

Okay, that was it.  Thus making our point.

True, summer is a time of popcorn cinema which relies more on the spectacle than the storytelling.  However, this summer seems to be slacking on both fronts (with a few obvious exceptions).

Because the 2WC Summer of Blockusters has to draw the line somewhere, we will not be featuring this “blockbuster” in our summer series.  Now, we would ask the prehistoric gang of Ice Age to not take it personally, but “Battleship” did make the cut.  So…

Anyways, do not fear this Friday will not go review free.  Just think of it as a palate cleanser.  We promise you’ll be surprised and entertained.  What will it be?  You ‘ll see.
