…Pay It Forward

“You can’t buy happiness,’ is a well know wisdom, with many variations. Yet no matter how many ways it is said or written, it doesn’t seem to sink in.

Since before the invention of money, humankind has tried to put a price on happiness.

So far, we haven’t been able to figure out quite how many cars, summer homes, hovercrafts and iPads it takes. But we are getting closer.

So, what’s the magic number today? $75,000.

To be clear, that’s the max annual salary for increased happiness.

Yes, that’s right all you millionaires, you may be minutely happier than the $25-55 thousand plebians, but you’ve got nothing on the upper five figure incomes.

It’s an encouraging thought as you trudge off to another day at the office. Although, if you’d really like to increase your overall joyful demeanor for the day, maybe share this news with others.

Turns out, true happiness can’t be bought, but it can be shared.

So in this sharing spirit, maybe forward this link to a friend or 20. It will make you feel better.

  1. can a $25,000/year person actually share happiness? does a link from a $77,500/year person spread more joy than one from Freddy $49,200?

  2. Anyone can share happiness. All it takes is a smile or a well deserved pat on the back for a job well done.
