…move right along
Posted by The2Women
Milestones have this funny habit of making us all look back. What led up to this important moment? How have we changed? How are we the same? What have we learned?
Needless to say, these are just a few of the questions that popped up during our discussion of 2WC’s 1000th blog. The discussion always came back to what we’ve learned. And after much debate and deliberation we managed to abridge a rather lengthy list into what you see below.
Call them guidelines, commandments, rules to live by, lessons learned, our personal dogma, mottos, etc… Whatever you choose to call them, here they are, “2WC’s Guidelines for Life”:
Optimism and naivety are two different things. One is sunny and the other leans strongly towards stupidity. Also, skepticism is not pessimism. One accepts reality and the other dismisses it.
Much like people, all movies deserve a chance. Some earn a second one and some are never spoken of again. Whether you’re a blockbuster or a small-budget art house flick 2WC is here for you, learning lessons and sharing them (along with our 4 cents).
All the world’s a stage and we the players (to paraphrase Shakespeare). Enjoy it and share your joy. Oh and real theater (of the musical variety or otherwise) is pretty fantastic too. Go see a show (and get us a playbill).
If you don’t have a sense of humor then what’s the point? There’s always something to smile about, and usually something to laugh at. You just have to know where to look. If you need help, stop by the Crusade. We can usually find something to laugh about, and it’s almost always appropriate (almost).
The world needs more superheroes on and off the screen, but if you’re going to be a villain (preferably on-screen) at least have a good reason. Let us respect your villainy.
The world would be a better place if everyone was a little more like the Muppets.
If television is rotting your brain, then you’re not watching it correctly.
Exclamation points should be used sparingly…question marks, often…and elipses, always.
Life is a lot more fun as a verb…don’t just be a noun.
Always, always, always have a crusade. Passion combined with action are what make life interesting and meaningful. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it’s something you care about (Within reason, of course. Don’t go starting a crusade to kick blind, orphan puppies, and say that we told you to).
Well, there you have it, 2WC’s 1000th blog. For those who have been with us the whole time, thanks for your support. If this is your first time here, thanks for joining (it’s about time).
Here’s to the next 1000 blogs.
…and a very happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s out there…especially ours…
