…Cut The Cord

Communication is an integral part of the human experience. It is what puts us at the top of the food chain as a species.
Another part of being human? Obsession.
When you combine the two, well, you get Nomophobia. Which may be the downfall of humanity.
What is Nomophobia? It’s something most of us have experienced at least a little at one time or another.
We’ve all been there. You’re running a quick errand, or stepping outside to grab the mail, when you realize you forgot your cellphone (aka- your right hand).
According to a recent study, nearly 53 percent of us suffer from this nearly debilitating phobia.
Some of us have taken our love of technology a little too far, and instead of improving our lives, our cellphones have become our lives.
Of course, there’s still hope. We can change. It’s not like we’re sleeping with our phones under our pillows, or bringing them into the bathroom…or are we?
Well, I guess there’s hope for some of us.

I need a name for the disease of those who expect since they called/texted/tweeted/in some random, non-personal way tried to communicate that I am obligated to respond within seconds…
We studied this phobia in my Abnormal Psychology class. I thought it was a joke until I had to write a paper on it.
Nothing confirms the reality of a subject like being required to research and regurgitate an obscene amount of information on the topic
…think of the fun dinner party conversations you can have now though.
