…tear it up
The sky is hazy, the ground is clear, and the temperature has dropped into the upper 70′s….that can only mean one thing…
It’s Christmas in July!
Don’t tell me you forgot.
Not to worry the Crusade has you covered.
While the heat wave may have subsided (for the moment) you may not want to be huddling around the fire or sip your hot chocolate (unless you want heat stroke for Christmas this year).
Although substituting snowball fights with water balloons and squirt guns never hurt anyone. Unless you count humiliating defeat.
These Crusaders will be celebrating this greatest of obscure (possibly not real) holidays a little differently.
We’ll be starting another training schedule. Today marks the beginning of a twelve week Urbanathalon training program.
What’s an Urbanathalon?
I’m glad you asked. It’s a foot race through downtown Chicago with urban-inspired obstacles thrown in there.
There’s taxi-hurdling, monkey bar racing, and stair climbing. It’s essentially Frogger, if the cars weren’t moving.
On this, the first day of training, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of the cars that made this day memorable.
True on race day there won’t be any sneak attacks from any driveway “speedracers” who don’t know how to use their brakes.
However, should any of the parked cars on race day decide to nearly run me over on the sidewalk I will be physically and emotionally prepared, thanks to you. I think it’s safe to say that they won’t apologize either.
Now, back to the spirit of the holiday. No Christmas in July would be complete without a completely off-season viewing of a holiday classic.
So pick your favorite movie, and your favorite people, and enjoy some holiday cheer during (not quite) the most wonderful time of the year.
