…make a move

...which way?

I’ve heard (not sure where or when, but I’ve heard) that it’s our own personal faults that we see best (usually for the worst) in other people.

For example, say you’re a nail-biter, that lady next to you on the bus who can’t keep her hands out of her mouth is probably driving you up a wall.

In my case it’s indecisiveness.  I have trouble, at times, every once in a while, occasionally making up my mind (pay no attention to all of the qualifiers in this sentence).  I am also horribly impatient with others who have this problem.  It drives me crazy to watch someone take more than two seconds to choose between two options (there are some exceptions of course…sometimes there are three options).

I’m working on it, both the indecisiveness and the impatience, I’m making more ground in one area than the other (bet you can’t guess which). In the mean time I thought I’d offer some words of encouragement to others who suffer from this fear of choices.

I think the most helpful way to do this will be to offer scenarios of varying importance.  So here are some hypothetical scenarios:

Decisions that aren’t worth sweating over:

soup or sandwich?

paper or plastic?

Coke or Pepsi?

Decisions that might be worth taking a moment to ponder:

major in biology or business?

$1000 shoes or no $1000 shoes?

red or blue wire?

Anyone who actually sat here and mulled over anything on that first list, you’re a lost cause I can’t help you.  Good luck.  I’m off to make myself some coffee…now, vanilla or french roast?

…bi-daily smile…

it’s Wednesday, so I have to have a “Glee” clip

p.s.  only took me two days to decide on this topic (started writing it on Monday, then changed my mind), actually not bad for me…

p.p.s . bonus points to anyone who can identify what film the photo up top is from :-)
